Jakarta to hold Muslim World Beauty Contest 2013

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Muslim World Beauty Contest 2013 will be held in Jakarta. The Muslim contest has opened online registration until July 18,2013. The opportunity to become World Muslim ambassador is opened to Muslim woman at age of 18 to 27 years. She also daily wears headscarf or jilbab able to read Quran, has achievements in sports, arts, academic or culture and ready to travel abroad.

Founder and CEO of the World Muslim Foundations, Eka Triyatna Shanty explained, applicant must register online, fill the form , upload her photograph, and fulfill some other requirements.

"Other criterias that we value are the appearance, photogenic and 3S, consist of sholehah (faithful), smart and stylish. We will select 100 semifinalists from all participants," Shanty said on Sunday.

Semifinalists are then asked to make a video documentary about her in one minute and upload it to Youtube. One of the most inspiring video will be chosen by public and jury. Base on the video, the jury will select 20 finalists who will follow the final contest on September 18, 2013 in Jakarta Expo.

The finalists will undergo quarantine twice. First, spiritual workshop which include debriefing and reading Quran correctly. The second workshop themed business and IslamIc economy. 

Last year, number of participants who registered online reached 850 people. They were from Indonesia, Germany, Australia, Timor Leste, Netherlands, Nigeria, Bangladesh, the US, Afghanistan, Morocco and Turkey.
