REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - German carmaker, Mercedes-Benz, plans to expand small car sales network for new product, Smart Fortwo, in Indonesia. Previously, Smart Fortwo only sold exclusively at authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer in Jakarta.

"There are four additional dealers, consist of Pluit and Daan Mogot  in Jakarta, Surabaya (East Java) and Bali. Expansion of this network is our commitment to increase growth of company and to answer consumer demand for urban micro car," Deputy Director of Network Development at Marcedenz-Benz to Jakarta, K Kariyanto said on Thursday.

Kariyanto said Mercedes-Benz actually intended to add the previous sales network. However, there were several criterias that should be owned by a dealer to be able to display the compact cars. For example, the ability to overcome problem of after-sales service, as well as the dealer should prepare special spare parts.

Three years after its launch, Mercedes-Benz finally updated the new look of Smart Fortwo. The uniqueness of the new city car is to allow consumers to replace vehicle body panels color with seven different colors and five color options for replacing the Tridion frame.

Another feature that is pinned to the outside look of the Smart Fortwo is a large black radiator grille, the latest LED day time, with a wider air vents shapes honeycomb. Three new wheels options are also offered to the consumer, such as nine-spoke, three-spoke and twin double-spoke designs. 

The Smart Fortwo is available in three types, consists of  Pure Coupe costs 187 million IDR, Passion Coupe costs 211 IDR and Passion Cabrio costs 237 IDR.
