REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIREBON - The Cirebon Kasepuhan Sultanate will hold tradition of Rajaban to welcome Isra and Miraj (the Night Visit and Ascension) on Thursday. This event commemorates the Prophet Muhammad’s journey from Mecca to Madina and his ascent into heaven.

"Rajaban is a long tradition in Kasepuhan Palace which is held every 27th day of Rajab," Kasepuhan Keraton ruler Sultan Sepuh IV Pangeran Raja Adipati (PRA) Arief Natadiningrat said on Wednesday.

Sultan explained, in the tradition, the palace usually made nasi bogana, a special rice dish from Tegal. It is usually wrapped in Banana leaves and served with a variety of dishes. The rice would be distributed to residents, mosques, courtiers and Megarsari society.

To commemorate Isra and Miraj, Cirebon Palace also holds a lecture in a small palace mosque to describe about Isra Miraj and to give wisdom to people. This year, the Palace also holds mass circumcision, free medicine, art show and Cirebon's craft fairs.

Sultan added the Palace would also open Dinar and Dirham's market and to launch a Bayt al-Mal, a literally meaning the House for Money, is used as an equivalent for the Treasury House where public fund is kept.
