REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian-made electric bus will serve all delegations of Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Bali next October 2013.

"We will prepare eights electric buses to be used as mode of transportations for all delegates," Minister of Research and Technology Gusti M Hatta said on Friday.

Currently those buses are still being assembled by PT Sarimas Ahmadi Pratama which is led by Dasep Ahmadi in Bekasi, West Java. Ministry of Research and Technolog is still doing research on batteries to power the electric bus. The Ministry plans to create small batteries with great power.

Hatta said that the key technology of electric cars or buses had been mastered by a number of electric car assemblers in Indonesia, including the manufactures of chassis technology, electronic systems and battery charger. He expected all components and units of the domestically-made electric vehicles could be mass produced in Indonesia in 2015.
