PM: Swedish companies rise 50 percent in Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, STOCKHOLM - Prime Minister of Sweden, Fredrik Reinfeldt said the number of Swedish companies in Indonesia increased 50 percent in the last two years. The increasing number demonstrates great interest of Swedish businessmen over dynamic market in Indonesia.

"When I spoke to Swedish business delegations in Jakarta last year, I saw they had great enthusiasm to invest in Indonesia," Reinfeldt said in a press conference with Presiden of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Stockholm on Wednesday.

Reinfeldt said Indonesia had the third largest democratic country that had a fantastic growth of economy by six percent per year. The growth is a  potential to open trade between the two countries especially to give economic growth in Euro zone which is currently one percent.

Sweden is an important partner of Indonesia with the highest value of bilateral trade among Scandinavian countries. Indonesia and Sweden have committed to increase cooperation in five sectors, such as trade, education, environment, climate change, as well as tourism. 

In the last five years, total of bilateral trade reached 1.46 billion USD in 2012, increased 28 percent than 1.05 billion USD in 2011. Swedish investment in Indonesia also reached 5.2 million USD for 11 projects in 2012, increased than 916 thousand USD for nine projects in 2011.
