REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Minister of Trade, Gita Wirjawan proposed 5 to 10 years of tax holiday for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) . The incentive is expected to boost SMEs and increase job opportunities.

"Some countries like Korea, Japan, Malaysia, and Latin American implement the similar system," Wirjawan said on Sunday.

He said development of SMEs in Indonesia was still hampered  by capital issues. Interest rates for SMEs customers in Indonesia was still high reached 20 percent, while in neighboring countries such as Malaysia, it was only 10 percent.
