Indonesia offers S Korea to invest in oil and gas technology

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Government invited foreign investors of South Korea to cooperate in oil and gas tehcnology. Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Susilo Siswoutomo said he had talked with Deputy Prime Minister of Energy of Korea.

"South Korea can help us to develop upstream and downstream technology," Siswoutomo said on Sunday. 

The project also included liquefied natural gas (LNG), electricity and renewable energy. South Korean investor could cooperate with national oil and gas company, Pertamina, National Gas Company (PGN), and the state owned electricity company, PLN.

In 2012, total oil and gas investment reached 21.88 billion USD. In 2013, the government aimed to increase oil and gas investment to 19.7 percent or 26.2 billion USD. Siswoutomo said that Indonesia also had possibility to export gas to Korea, such as from Jangkrik field in East Kalimantan.
