Indonesian hospital in Gaza enters final stage

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Development of Indonesian hospital (RSI) in Gaza, Palestine, has entered its final stage of the three year project. The humanitarian project, worth 30 billion IDR, is organized by Mer-C and funded by charity from Indonesian people.

"In the beginning, Indonesian volunteers were nearly hopeless due to many obstacles, especially from bureaucracy in Palestine," a volunteer, Nur Ikhwan, said on Saturday.

At first government in Gaza rejected to permit the building project due to design issue. "Whenever we would move to the next stage, we must obtain permission from local engineer association," Ikhwan said. "We did the best we could, so we only expected God to help us."

Finally the association agreed on their project design and asked them to start the deveopment. The project was under close monitoring by the local ministry of health. But Ikhwan praised contribution from local people whom he said very helpful. Now the project has entered at the final stage, after conquering so many obstacles.
