REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia will continue its efforts to put some agricultural and forestry products including crude palm oil (CPO) and rubber into Environmental Good List (EG List) in Asia Pasific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

According to Deputy Minister of Trade, Bayu Krisnamurthi, most of 54 commodities in EG list are industrial products. "But we are optimistic and we will continue our efforts at APEC Ministrial Meetingin Surabaya and APEC Summit in Bali," Krisnamurthi said on Tuesday.

He criticized as the EG list was dominated by manufacture products and bamboo from China was the only commodity can be found on the list. Krisnamurthi said, APEC acceptance of Indonesian agricultural products could be translated as a recognition towards Indonesian green economy. Other countries including Papua New Guinea, Chile, and Peru, are potential to add their products into EG list.

"More consumers have great concern on environment and no wonder if they prefer environmentally friendly products," he added.
