Pertamina to build LNG regasification terminal in Aceh

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - State owned oil and gas company, Pertamina announced its plan to build liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal in Arun, Aceh. The projects is worth 80 million USD.

"We have established PT Rekayasa Industri as engineering, procurement and construction or EPC contractor," Vice President of Technology, Directorate Gas of Pertamina, Daniel Syahputra Purba said on Wednesday. This project is projected to be completed in 19 months.

On November 2014, Purba said, this facility was expected to operate commercially Pertamina has also appointed its subsidiary, Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) to hold a tender for regasification terminal project. Gas pipeline will be completed in October 2014.

Arun LNG regasification terminal is expected to supply LNG in Aceh and North Sumatra, as Arun gas supply currently only 224 million cubic feet. The current supply is still behind the demand in Medan which reaches 420.20 million cubic feet.
