REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The new World Bank's Vice President for East Asia and Pacific, Axel van Trotsenburg, met Indonesian Vice President Boediono on Thursday.
"This is my second visit to Indonesia after 2002. I'd like to visit every country in the region to know them better," Trotsenburg said on Thursday. He met Boediono along with World Bank's Director for Indonesia Stefan Koeberle and three World Bank's senior economists James Brumby, Ndiame Diop, and Jan Weetjens.
In his short visit, Trotsenburg said that World Bank expected to boost cooperation in development sectors to ensure the stability and sustainability of Indonesian economic growth. World Bank also eyes Indonesian decentralization, capacity building, and the growth of domestic market.
Axel van Trotsenburg has been appointed the World Bank’s new Vice President for East Asia and Pacific on February 1. Trotsenburg will lead the Bank’s advisory services and lending operations in a dynamic region which now accounts for 40 percent of global growth. While his predecessor, Pamela Cox, now is appointed as World Bank Senior Vice President for Change Management.
