REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Russia adopts its new foreign policy by focusing on Asia Pacific region. Approved by President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on February 12, the shift demonstrates the recent dynamic and global changes.
The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Indonesia, Mikhail Galuzin, spoke on Tuesday in the press briefing on the Renewed Foreign Policy Concept of Russia that Russia actively participated in the integration processes in the Asia-Pacific region and created a transparent and equitable system of security and cooperation on a collective basis in the Asia-Pacific.
"Russia also make efforts to improve condition of the military-political situation in Asia, where we still see a significant conflict potential, increasing military arsenals and danger of the weapons of mass destruction proliferation becomes more alarming," he said.
Russia promises to support the conflict resolution process in all regional disputes, such as claims territory over South China Sea, through political and diplomatic efforts in strict compliance with international law. South China Sea disputes involves several countries in Asia, particularly China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei.
"It should be resolved through negotiation. We will respect any form, but the solution should be in accordance with international law," he said.
