India, where tradition meets modernity

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - India offers various experiences for the tourists. The country located in South Asia claims that its vibrant modernity mixed with traditional attraction makes it as one stop country for everything. It is a 

"India is huge. India is diverse. India is modern, traditional and colourful," Director of India Tourism, Madhu Dubey, said during a seminar on Thursday entitled "Know India" in Jakarta.

India, having multi products of tourist destinations, has a 365-day destinations for all seasons and reasons. People visiting India can have cultural, spiritual and natural experiences.

For those who travel to India on February to March, it is the best time to visit Himalayas, while March to April is the right time to enjoy white water river rafting. It can also be enjoyed in September to October.

Every year, India holds Holi festival, one of the major festivals of India. This festival is celebrated with enthusiasm on the full moon day in March. It is the time when entire countries wear a festive look. Heaps of various hues of gulal and abeer can be seen on the roadside. Holi is also called the Spring Festival because it marks the arrival of spring the season of hope and joy. 

If you prefer to visit India in June, you can take a walk in Valley of Flowers National Park which is located in Uttarakhand state at the height in West Himalaya. It is famous for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and variety of flora. The flowers bloom until September.

Meanwhile in August, India holds snakeboats race in Kerala. Kerala is a long strip of enchanting land tucked away in the southwest corner of India. Kerala overflows with many natural splendors such as mountains and valleys, lush paddy fields, lagoons, beautiful beaches and backwaters. The best time to see backwaters is in October to May. But, if you choose to enjoy the palm-fringed beaches, the best time to visit them is in October to March.

India is also famous for its wildlife. A state in India called Orissa is renowned for its rare breed of White Tigers and has an abundance of other fauna varieties. Apart from that, India has the Simlipal National Park, Chilika, Bhitar Kanika, Gahirmata, Baisipalli, and other wildlife sanctuaries. The right time to visit them is from November to April.
