Govt to build giant sea wall ahead the plan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister of Economy, Hatta Rajasa, agrees to build the giant sea wall ahead of plan. The building of giant sea wall which is a part of Jakarta Coastal Development (JDC) project will be started in 2014.

Earlier, Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo, asked central government to speed up the kick off of the giant sea wall from 2020 to 2014.

"We agree to speed up the building of the first stage," Rajasa said on Wednesday. Rajasa mentioned that the financing scheme of giant sea wall would not only depend on the state budget, but also prioritized the public private partnership. 

"We will encourage the investors (to join the project)," Rajasa said.

Jokowi said Jakarta administration committed to speed up the building of giant sea wall. The study conducted by Ministry of Public Works is expected to be finished soon. 

Jokowi predicts the building of the project needed at least 280 trillion IDR. It is predicted that the big budget project has good prospect commercially.
