REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Government plans to ratify bill on public organizations this month, ruling every foreign organization to obtain permit from Ministry of Foreign Affairs to operate in Indonesia. The previous regulation only regulates on foreign citizens who plan to form an organization to submit their passport to Ministry of Laws and Human Rights.

"We still accommodate every citizen and give a room for those who want to form public organization and non-governmental organization," officials from Ministry of Interior Affairs, Bahtiar, said on Tuesday, explaining that the laws would allow government to monitor the movement of the organizations, preventing them to bring foreign mission to Indonesia.

Bahtiar refused to mention that the activity of foreign organizations had threatened state sovereignty. He explained further that the laws were based on democratic principles.

"Every element of democracy which conducts activist in public must be ruled to protect Indonesia," he said.

Ministry of Interior Affairs has formed information system for the organizations. It integrates nationally to ensure that the organizations give benefit for people, nation and country based on Article 28J Constitutional Law 1945.
