REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR – Democrat Party Advisory Board Chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) who also chaired the party’s High Council announced that integrity pact took effect on Sunday. 

“Integrity Pact takes effect today (Sunday -Ed). We believe that this is a pivotal step for party’s reorganizing and consolidation while we have not discussed general elections 2014 yet. If God’s willing, the Democrat party will restore its political moral and genuine character then we will think about the general election 2014 later,” SBY said in an emergency meeting at his residence on Sunday night.    

SBY explained that all cadres were required to sign the ten points’ pact, started by the party’s 33 regional chairman (DPD) attending the meeting. Among others, the pact says that all cadres must implement good governance, prevent any possibility leads to bribery, corruption, drugs abuse, and adultery.  

Anas was elsewhere

The absence of Anas Urbaningrum, Democrat Party’s chairman who also the deputy chairman of High Council, at the meeting drew some questions. “All member of High Council attended the meeting, but the party’s chairman who also deputy chairman of High Council was absent due to his illness,” SBY explained. “We have sent him an invitation but he could not attend.”

Yet, a political analist, M Qodari, predicted that internal conflict within Democrat Party could be even worse since SBY’s maneuver to taking over the party. “The war is still on without any sign of ending in the near future,” he said.
