REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian National Agency of Food and Drug Control (BPOM) raises people awareness on illegal food and drug through National Awareness towards Illegal Food and Drug (GN-WOMI).

"Previously BPOM focuses on reducing supply to cut distribution of illegal food and drugs. Now we will focus on reducing demand amid the increasing demand for illegal food and drug," the Head of BPOM, Lucky S Slamer, said on Friday.

The new strategy of GN-WOMI in reducing demand is in line with three principles of BPOM including to raise public awareness. "In the end, the decision to buy the illegal product is at the people's hand," he said.
