REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Thousands workers including members of Indonesian Metal Workers Federation (FSPMI) staged a rally on Wednesday in several points in Jakarta. They were asking for health insurance based on Laws on the Social Security Provider (BPJS) and protesting the delays of minimum wage increase.
"We want guarantees on pension for workers and Eliminate outsourcing," a protester from PT Musashi, Daryono, shouted in Hotel Indonesia traffic circle, urging government to revise Manpower Ministerial Regulation No 12/2012 on Decent Life. Another protester, Teti from Indocement, said that workers refused low wage and the increasing of basic electric tariff.
From Hotel Indonesia, the workers held long march to State Palace and House of Representatives complex at Senayan. "We want social insurance and tbe wage incresae," President of Indonesian Workers Confederation (KSPI), Said Iqbal, emphasized.
They urged government to guarantee health insurance started from January 1, 2014. He added that the rallies werealso conducted in Bandung, Surabaya, Batam, Medan and Aceh as an anniversary of FSPMI.
