REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG - Palembang, South Sumatra, will build a monorail system in the near future. The Governor, Alex Noerdin, has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with True North Bridge (NTB) Capital on Tuesday. This is one step forward compared to Jakarta and Surabaya as both cities are still at planning stage.

"Governor of North Sumatra has signed an MoU with NTB Capital and an investor from Korea," Acting Head of Public Relations and Protocol of North Sumatra Provincial Government, Irene Camelyn, said on Tuesday.

She said the construction of monorail system would become the first project in Sumatra and even in Indonesia. This project needs at least 20 million USD or equal to 5 trillion IDR.
