REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Transjakarta launches electronic ticketing system, E-Money or Electronic Multi Issuer, on Tuesday. The Chairman of TransJakarta Public Service Agency (BLU), Muhammad Akbar, guarantees that the new system creates faster and more practical in transanction.
This system, implemented firstly in Trans Jogja and Trans Batik Solo, will provide more benefits to passengers, management and government.
Passengers will enjoy an easier transaction, while the management of Transjakarta can be safer, more transparent and accountable. Government will also gets benefit on cashless society.
He said that the system, having intellectual right, was developed by Indonesian company, Gamatechno Indonesia. The e-ticketing has been implemented in corridor 1 of Transjakarta, Blok M-Kota. Other corridors will follow within three to four months.
Five banks, BNI, Mandiri, BRI, BCA and Bank DKI, are working together with government for this program. "This product of e-money is expected to be integrated with other public transportation such as Kopaja, Metromini and train," Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo, said during the launching of e-ticketing.
Currently, there are 11 corridors in Transjakarta with 320,000 transactions per day. Transjakarta is planned to integrate with Kopaja and Metromini. In 2013, the e-ticketing transaction is expected to reach a million per day.
"E-money is the solution for transportation problem in Jakarta," Jokowi said.
