REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - About 50 areas in Jakarta have been inundated since Tuesday and the floods force at least 6,101 people to seek shelter. National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) has built several emergency and health posts near the areas. BNPB predicts that some more areas will be inundated.
As rain continued to fall across Jakarta last night, water levels in Ciliwung River in Manggarai kept increasing. It reached dangerous level 900 centimeters. Meanwhile, water levels in Katulampa Dam reached 130 centimeters.
The areas inundated with floods are Jatinegara and Kramat Jati in East Jakarta, Tebet, Pancoran, Pasar Minggu, Kebayoran Lama, Pesanggrahan, Cilandak, Kebayoran Baru, and Jagakarsa in South Jakarta, and Galur, Petamburan and Cideng in Central Jakarta.
Meanwhile in West Jakarta, the areas affected by flood are Kebon Jeruk, Kembangan, Grogol Petamburan and Cengkarang. Several areas in North Jakarta, which are Kelapa Gading, Tanjung Priok, Pademangan, and Penjaringan, are also inundated.
