Jayapura to develop a tourism village

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA - Papua is known for its fascinating nature and culture which drives Tourism Department in Jayapura Local Government to develop a tourism village.

"We have carried out some efforts to prepare Jayapura as tourism destination in 2016," the Mayor of Jayapura, Tommy Mano, said on Monday. 

Local government has asked Ministry of Tourism to help developing an area with a total of 100 million IDR."We cooperate with several tourism elements, such as Indonesian Chef Association (ICA), to develop local culinary," Mano said. 

Local government also builds tourism infrastructure, particularly hotels, and also socializes the inhabitants on tourism. Yet, Mano admitted that the development had encountered some problems due to lacking of human resources.
