REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANG - India was the largest consumer of non-oil commodities exports from West Sumatra between January and November 2012, with an expenditure of 649.2 million USD.

"During that period, non-oil exports to India declined by 21.62 percent compared with the same period in 2011, which had reached 828.2 billion USD," said head of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) West Java Muchsin Ayub in Padang on Saturday.

The United States was the second major export destination with an export value of 566 million USD, followed by Singapore with a value of 358.3 million USD. Ayub noted that the total export value of some of the main regions in West Sumatra had declined by 22.18 percent from 3.8332 million USD in 2011 to 2.2048 million USD this year.

"The export period from January to November 2012 through the Teluk Bayur Port earned 2.2041 million USD, or 99.97 percent, and through Minangkabau International Exports earned 0.7 million USD, or 0.03 percent," he said.

Exports to the United States declined by 34.12 percent, while exports to China declined by 36.23 percent, and exports to New Zealand declined from 24.3 million USD to 21.8 million USD.

From January to November 2012, exports to India have made the largest contribution to the total exports of West Sumatra with a value of 29.44 percent, followed by the United States at 25.67 percent, Singapore at 16.25 percent, and China at 9.99 percent.

The greatest increase came from Pakistan with an increase of 427.84 percent from 21 million USD to 111.11 million USD, followed by Singapore with an increase of 11.82 percent from 320.4 million USD to 358 million USD and Canada with an increase of 34.93 percent from 6.4 million USD to 8.6 million USD.
