New regulation on mobile phone issued

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Ministry of Trade issued a new regulation to rule the import of cellular phone (cellphone), and tablet PC. The Ministerial Regulation No 82/M-DAG/PER/12/2012 is aimed to support Health, Environmental and Safety as well as the future industrialization of cellular phone.

"Customers must be protected over products which do not meet standard requirements. Every imported cellular phone, and tablet PC must meet the requirements," Minister of Trade Gita Wirjawan said recently.

The imported products must be provided with manual and warranty in Bahasa that issued by Directorate General of Standardization and Protection of Consumer at the Ministry of Trade and technical standard from Ministry of Communication and informatics. Recently, Indonesia is flooded  imported gadgets, mainly from China. 

The import can only be conducted through certain ports, like Belawan Port in Medan, Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta, Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang, Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya, and Soekarno-Hatta Port in Makassar. While the chosen airport are Polonia Airport in Medan, Soekarno-Hatta Airport  in Tangerang, Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang, Juanda Airport in Surabaya, and Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar.
