REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Welcoming the new year, Republika Media Group holds a national scale event of zikir at At-Tin Mosque in Jakarta. In Islamic teachings, zikir is an act of remembrance of God.
The event is expected to offer an alternative of religious culture. "This national scale program is a good deed because Republika invites people to retrospect and look inside their own soul," one of the preachers attended the event, Ustaz Fadzlan Garamatan, said on Sunday.
He said that new year was the right momentum for people to contemplate and count their mistakes in the last year. Introspection allows people to welcome new year with improvement.
"Muslim's companies must have joined this good deed," he said.
He added that zikir built a mindset that people must surrender themselves to God. He believes that the mindset will generate good behavior and mentality of Muslims.
