REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia always support peaceful solution and urges both opposition and Presiden Bashar al Assad to hold some talks. "Indonesia also tries to create a momentum to settle conflict in Syria," Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marty Natalegawa, said on Friday.

During the visit to Islamabad, Indonesia and Pakistan talked on situation in Syria. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono emphasized on conflict resolution, humanitarian, and political transition. Indonesia as among the friends of UN envoy for Syrian conflict, Lakhdar Brahimi, always support his mission to be peaceful solution.

Some believed that President Bashar al-Assad must step down before political transition was being started, while some said that political transition must be conducted with or without Assad. Indonesia urges the government and opposition to meet to deliver their visions. "The meeting is expected to create political process," Natalegawa said. He added that military step was not an option to solve the conflict as more victims fell during the war.
