REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Vaccine for poultry against H5N1 will be available in January 2013. However, the Indonesian-made vaccine must be tested for a month.

Director of Animal Health at Ministry of Agriculture, Pujiatmoko, said the ministry collected the sample of ducks infected by avian influenza. "For the virus of avian influenza that attacks chicken, we collect the sample from chicken that lived near the ducks," he said on Wednesday.

Based on analysis through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), the virus is H5N1. He said that he would inject the old vaccine to the new virus. At the same time, the ministry will also formulate a new vaccine.
