REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Jakarta Police Department will summon the owner of Kickers store and Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI). "We will call the owner of Kickers store and MUI this week," Jakarta Police Spokesman, Rikwanto, said on Wednesday.

He also said that the case needed further investigation. Police will seek the party which gave halal label to Kickers.

The call is made after a customer, Winarto (48 years), reported to the police that he found "pig skin lining" written on Kickers product that he bought. He deemed it as a violation to his consumer rights.

In other case, Kickers also put halal label or pemitted under Islamic law. MUI claimed that they had never issued halal stamp for Kickers. MUI also urged the manufacturer of Kickers footwear in Indonesia, PT Mahkota Petriedo Indoperkasa, to withdraw the shoes containing pig skin.
