REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Rizal Mallarangeng claimed that Minister of Finance Agus Martowardojo was also responsible for the project of Hambalang sport complex. Rizal who spoke on behalf of his brother, Andi Mallarangeng, said that Minister Martowardojo was the person who disbursed the budget for the project.

"If only he did not open the gate, there would be no Hambalang graft case," Rizal said during press conference on Friday. He explained that the ratification of the project cited in Minister of Finance Regulation No. 56/02/2010 Article 5/1 mentioned that it must be signed by two parties, or in this case,  Minister of Youth and Sports Andi Mallarangeng and Minister of Public Works Joko Kirmanto.

He said that both of them did not sign, but the money was still released. "If the water is dirty from the upstream, then it will pollute everything that it passes," Rizal said using a metaphor.

"Since Andi Mallarangeng has been named as a suspect then those who were involved must become the suspect as well. This is not a personal matter, but the matter of equality before law," the brother of Andi Mallarangeng said. Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Andi Mallarangeng as a suspect in Hambalang graft case, while his older brother Zulkarnain Mallarangeng was banned to travel abroad.
