China to build an industrial area in Eastern Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia and China will soon cooperate in building a new industrial area in East Indonesia. The area was a relocation from mineral industry which was located in China, Minister of Industry MS Hidayat said.

"We will communicate with China. We will sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) G to G in the next 3 or 4 months when Prime Minister of China come to Indonesia," Hidayat said on Monday.

China plans to build three to four industrial areas in Indonesia. Each is around 5,000 hectare.

In the third quarter of 2012, industrial sector rises 7.3 percent. Non oil and gas industry grows around 6.4 percent, while oil and gas industry increases by five percent.

Government predicts the growth of non oil and gas industry in 2013 can reach at least 6.8 percent. Supported by infrastructure development, non oil and gas industry can grow up to 7.1 percent.
