REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian export of automotive products is promising. Several brands that have automotive manufacturers in Indonesia, such as Toyota, Daihatsu, and Suzuki, export the cars to some countries including Middle East.

According to Indonesia Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), car export in January to October 2012 rose 43 percent to 232,000 units from previous year. Suzuki and Toyota are optimistic that the export will keep increasing.

Marketing Director of Suzuki Indomobil Sales, Davy J Tuilan, said that Suzuki could reach 20 percent export following new investment worth 8 trillion IDR to increase production capacity.

However, Suzuki admits that it will focus on domestic market next year as the condition of export market is not conducive. Also, Suzuki aims to fulfil the high demand from domestic market.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) targets the export to rise 30 percent from 2011. Chief External Affairs of TMMIN, Irwan Priyantoko, said the export of Toyota was not hampered as Toyota mainly exported its products to developing countries.

TMMIN, hoping to increase export to 40 percent by 2015, has a target to maintain export market, especially to Middle East. According to the data from TMMIN, it has produced 129,720 units until October 2012. Toyota Avanza is still the highest exported cars in the amount of 33,915 units. The position is followed by Daihatsu Terios and Toyota Rush. The cars are exported to ASEAN countries, Africa and South America.
