REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) plans to issue cent IDR as new currency to prevent inflation after redenomination. "Government plans to issue cent in new IDR. It also prevents excessive rounding of money," Director Executive of Strategic Planning and Public Relations of BI, Dody Budi Waluyo, said on Monday.

Government and BI still study the plan of redenomination, omitting three zeros from the current value of IDR. For example 1,000 IDR will become 1 IDR while 100,000 IDR will be 100 IDR. However, the value will remain the same. Without cent, redenomination will probably cause inflation.

"They can use cent in case there are any excess of price," he said.
