Prabowo Calls for Gaza Cease-Fire and Escalation of Iran-Israel Conflict

Peace settlement through diplomatic and negotiation as the only way.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has called for an immediate ceasefire over the armed conflict in Gaza and an escalation of tensions between Israel and Iran. The Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Monday (16/6/2025) mentioned that this call was made during the Leaders' Retreat forum with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, as a form of Indonesia's active stance towards global peace.

“We stress the importance of a peaceful settlement through negotiations and call for an immediate ceasefire,” Prabowo said in remarks at Parliament House in Singapore.

President Prabowo reiterated that Indonesia views a peaceful settlement through diplomatic and negotiated routes as the only way out of the conflict that continues to consume civilian casualties in the Middle East region.

“We express our deep concern over the situation in Gaza and the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran,” he said.

In addition to Middle East issues, President Prabowo also highlighted the political and humanitarian crisis in Myanmar. He said Indonesia and Singapore agreed to continue promoting peaceful engagement in the country, in line with ASEAN principles.

“Regarding Myanmar, we agreed to continue to push for engagement and a peaceful settlement in the country,” he said.
