REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - A new magazine 'Indonesia 2014' mentions that Indonesia has 36 presidential candidates ready for the upcoming election.
"I hope many more (candidates) will appear," President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono commented on Wednesday.
The magazine 'Indonesia 2014' issued to follow Indonesian political process towards presidential election mentions that 36 people will become presidential candidates. Some of the candidates have been officially announced by their party, while some other recommended by media and polling.
Indonesia 2014 is also cooperated with Indonesian pollster, LSI, which has released a list of 24 potential presidential candidates for 2014. Chief Justice of Indonesian Constitutional Court Mahfud MD sits on number one. Trailing behind him are Minister of Finance Agus Martowardojo, Minister of Politics, Law, and Security Djoko Suyanto, Former President Megawati Soekarnoputri, Golkar chairman Aburizal Bakrie, Minister for Religious Affairs Suryadharma Alie, Managing Director of World Bank Sri Mulyani, Business Tycoon Chairul Tanjung and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono.
SBY said that he also paid attention to such figures. "There are at least 26 who will nominate himself," he said last February. He allowed the candidates to deliver their policies. "Let the process be fair and democratic," he said.
