UN Women Chief to visit to Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Executive Director of UN Women Michelle Bachelet will conduct her first official visit to Indonesia from 3-5 December 2012, the United Nations Information Center said in a press statement on Saturday. UN Women is the UN entity established in 2010 to lead, support and coordinate work on gender equality and the empowerment of women. 

Bachelet will be a keynote speaker on 4 December at the 4th Ministerial Conference on Women`s Role in the Development of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Member States, at the invitation of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Her program from 3-5 December includes meetings with several Indonesian officials, civil society leaders and Islamic scholars, and a public lecture. A press conference is planned during the second day of her visit.
