REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries are drafting Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) on fisheries with Norway.

"The ministry has finalized the concept involving other institutions," Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sharif Cicip Sutardjo, said after meeting with Norwegian State Secretary Kristine Gramstad on Tuesday.

Both countries have reached the decision on quality and food security of fish and its product. The MRA allows two or more countries agree to recognize another's conformity assessments. The agreement eases the activity of export and import.

Discussion on marine sector, focusing on aquaculture and fisheries, is among the agenda of Norwegian state visit to Indonesia. The entourage led by Crown Prince Haakon Magnus will be in Indonesia until November 28. This visit is expected to strengthen and further develop the existing co-operation as well as strengthen Norway's reputation in Indonesia.
