REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PHNOM PENH - Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono specifically raised the issue of Gaza conflict in Palestine on Monday during a meeting with US President Barack Obama in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. SBY showed its concern towards violence in Gaza.

He urged influencing parties to encourage an end to the violence. SBY warned that the current conflict could escalate and turn into the similar conflict of 2008-2009 Gaza War. "The president specifically cited the conflict 2008-2009," Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, who accompanied SBY in Phnom Penh, said on Tuesday, as reported by Arys Hilman from Republika. The conflict killed 1,300 people in a matter of three weeks.

Obama immediately responded. He promised to call for an end to the hostilities, Marty said. Obama directly contacted US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to fly to Israel from Cambodia. Taking Tuesday flight, she is scheduled to meet Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, in Jerussalem, Israel and President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas in West Bank, Palestine. The Gaza issue was also raised by Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Tun Razak during ASEAN Summit.
