US Embassy in Jakarta celebrate the US elections and the counting process in a hotel in Jakarta on Wednesday.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Celebrating US Election, US Embassy in Indonesia held the Announcement of the US Election Results 2012 in Kempinski Grand Ballroom, Jakarta, on Wednesday (7/11). Expats, researchers, students, and media attended the event.

The ballroom was decorated with balloons in red, white, and blue. Several booths, such as electoral colleges and voting booth, were provided to inform the participants about the US Election. People were likely to gather in electoral colleges booth asking for the US Election system.

"It is an exciting day. The result is going to be close. Thank you for attending this event," US Ambassador to Indonesia, Scot Marciel, said in his opening remarks. In his remarks, he explained briefly about the US Election system. He also recommended the attendees to visit the booths to understand further about the US Election.

US Mission to ASEAN, David L. Carden, also delivered opening remarks. He thanked young people who had come to the event. "In the US, young people are trying to encourage people to use their cote. Young people are the one who move the campaign forward," Carden said.

On the sidelines of the event, Marciel said that hurricane Sandy caused major damage in New Jersey and New York. However, the Governor of each state facilitates the residents to use their votes. "In our system, every state is responsible for the election," he said.

People enthusiasm in election is high. He said that millions of people voted early. "There are also large number of volunteers that help both candidates and voters to use their vote," he said.

The event was ended with the announcement of the result of the US election. "Obama has win re-election," announced the official of the US Embassy. People were cheering and clapping following the announcement.
