REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia's Vice President Boediono departed to Makkah today to do hajj. It was the first time for him and his wife to perform the pilgrimage, the spokesman of Vice President, Yopie Hidayat, said.

"Vice President Boediono is departing with his wife (Herawati Boediono), his son, and his son-in-law. They will be back on October 30," Hidayat said on Sunday.

His departure is the invitation of Saudi Arabian King, Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz. Besides his family, he will also be accompanied by his secretary, deputy of people's welfare, and two special staffs. His official entourage is 17 people, excluding his escorts.
