REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - An Indonesian Non Governmental Organizations which visited Myanmar to help Rohingya, found uneven distribution of the aid. MER-C said that it could lead to another conflict as Myanmar Government and Red Cross distributed the aid unevenly.
A MER-C activist, Zakya Yahya, said inequity was occurred because all Myanmar officials and Red Cross, were afraid to enter Rohingya refugee camps.
"When we arrive at Rohingya camp, some of the patients were neglected without any treatment," Yahya said on Tuesday. He said that neutrality must be brought to forefront in humanitarian act.
MER-C also said that the coordination between Myanmar Government and the Local Government of Rakhine State did not manage well. He said that Myanmar Government had instructed to help both parties, yet local government did not obey it.
"Our team was not allowed to enter Rohingya camp once," Yahya said. But, after urging Myanmar Government and Military, they were allowed to enter the camp.
Refugee camp is divided into two, Rohigya and Rakhine Camps. MER-C visited four locations of Rohingya Camp, Danyawaddy Football Camp, Min Ban Camp, Danyawaddy North Camp, and Chaung Camp. At least 18,000 people are in Rohingya Camp, while 8,000 people are in Rakhine Camp.
