High demand for Indonesian recycled furniture in China

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The transaction of Indonesian furniture in China International Furniture Fair (CIFF) in Guangzhou, China, reaches more than 1 million USD. About 970,500 USD is direct purchase while the rest is order of demanded products of recycled and wooden furniture.

The Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, Gusmardi Bustami, said on Thursday the transaction showed that Indonesia could compete internationally. The recycled furniture sold in CIFF is made from the combination of wood, can, and tire. The visitors also love handicrafts and accessories made from wood.

CIFF 2012 is one of the biggest international furniture exhibitions in Central China and Asia. At least 40 visitors from production and manufacture sectors, industry, research and technological centers, institutions and associations, universities, architecture, interior design, designers, importers, and retailers come to the exhibition attended by 973 exhibitors from Japan, Korea, Ireland, Vietnam, Indonesia, and China. It was the first time for Indonesia to attend CIFF.
