REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The governments of Indonesia and South Korea are exploring the cooperation in filmmaking, including in animation movies, interactive games, music, and art. Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Marie Elka Pangestu, said.
On her three day trip to South Korea, she visited Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), and Korea's entertainment company, CJ E&M. In the meeting with KOCCA, Minister Pangestu said that she discussed the opportunities to cooperate in filmmaking.
The CEO of KOCCA, Hong Sang-Pyo, said that he concentrated more attention on creating ideas of artists. "We have a competition on creating stories and give as many opportunities as possible to our artists. We also provide space for them to have discussions and provide a minimum working contract for one year, therefore they can develop good stories, articles and scripts which can later be produced for films, games, TV serials or books," Sang-Pyo said on the press release on Thursday.
Pangestu hoped KOCCA would open official branch in Indonesia. She also hoped that KOCCA would cooperate in distributing Indonesian movies in South Korea and assist Indonesian artists for developing their creative industry.
Meanwhile, CJ E&M offered some cooperation, such as the exchange, production, and distribution of content. "Indonesia already has high quality creative content. Hopefuly CJ can exchange creative content with Indonesia soon," she said.
