Indonesia-Egypt economic cooperation increases after revolution

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CAIRO - The economic cooperation between Indonesia and Egypt is increasing for about 54 percent after Egypt's revolution. "Indonesia takes benefits from Egypt's revolution on 25 January 2011 to improve bilateral relationship, especially on economy and trade," Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt, Nurfaizi Suwandi, said on Wednesday.

Suwandi noted, the bilateral trading transaction increase for 54.7 percent or become 1.59 billion USD compared to previous year. Apart from that, Indonesian investment in Egypt also reaches 200 million USD. 

"This is Indonesian role to participate in improving Egypt's economy," he said.

Indonesia will also enhance the partnership in cultural sector. Both countries are expected to become the icons on peace and tolerance.
