REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) expected that head of Indonesian Red Cross Jusuf Kalla could become a special envoy for Rohingya issue. SBY expressed his expectation after receiving Kalla’s report about his visit to Myanmar.

"Considering his experience, I hope Jusuf Kalla can become our special envoy," he said on Thursday, as he also offered some other assistance such as food or housing material.

As an envoy, Kalla will be tasked to avoid any misunderstanding between Indonesia and Myanmar side and to help ethnic Rohingya. He is scheduled to have second visit to Myanmar on September 8. He plans to meet some Myanmar figures.
