REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NAYPYIDAW - Led by the Chairman of Indonesian Red Cross Jusuf Kalla, Indonesian delegation successfully entered Myanmar and met Myanmar President U Thein Sein in Naypyidaw, Myanmar. His visit was to offer conflict resolution in Rakhine.
Kalla was accompanied by the former mediator of Helsinki Negotiation Hamid Awaluddin, Indonesian Ambassador to Myanmar Sabastian Sumarsono, the Assistant of OIC Secretary General Atta Abdul Mannan, and President of Qatar Red Crescent Mohamed Ghanim Al-Maadheed.
Thein Sein denied that the conflict in Rakhine was religious conflict as stated in the media. He explained that it was purely criminal act that led to communal conflict.
"We reminded Myanmar government to solve this communal conflict before it turns into religious conflict," Kalla said in his email on Friday.
He also said that President Thein Sein asked Indonesian delegation to visit and get the first hand information on the conflict in Rakhine, Arakan state.
