Trade between Indonesia and Pakistan increases 34 percent

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Trade between Indonesia and Pakistan increases by 34 percent from 787 million IDR in 2010 to 1.142  billion IDR in 2011. Pakistan Ambassador to Indonesia, Sanaullah, stated in a press release related to his meeting with Chairman of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KADIN), Suryo B Sulisto on Tuesday.

Sanaullah said that Pakistan was the third biggest consumer of palm oil after China and India. However, there was urgent need to boost two-way trade by encouraging business community in both countries. 

The ambassador requested the Sulisto to persuade the Indonesian businessmen to turn to a market of more than 180 million people and equally large market in the neighboring landlocked countries. 

Meanwhile, Sulisto appreciated the increasing trade between Pakistan and Indonesia and showed willingness to encourage the business community in Indonesia to seek trade and investment opportunities in Pakistan. He said that frequent meetings of businessmen of both countries would help increase bilateral trade. He promised to attend D-8 Summit in November 2012.
