REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BATAM - National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) seized 950 illegal import products and toxic cosmetic products worth 300 million IDR from some markets in Batam. The seized products, among others, are Milo from Malaysia and Redbull, L'oreal and Bear Bran from Thailand.

The inspection, supported by the Ministry of Trade, also found melamine products and swaballasr lamp which do not meet Indonesian National Standard (SNI). They also found SF mobile, SS blender, and NS magic jar without instruction and warranty card in bahasa Indonesia or Indonesian language.

The Head of BPOM, Lucky S Selamet, said the products might contain hazardous ingredients. "The taste may be better, but we do not guarantee that the ingredients are safe," he said. Those illegal products, he said, would be destroyed.
