REPUBLIKA CO.ID., JAKARTA - The management of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Angkasa Pura II (AP II), will soon conduct the groundbreaking of the enlargement of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in the mid of July 2012. The development is expected to solve the overcapacity.

The airport ideally holds 22 million passengers, but the record in 2011 shows the passengers reach 52 million. "With the new design, Soetta is expected to hold 62 million passengers per year. We hope the rehabilitation can be finished in 2014," the Corporate Secretary of AP II, Trisno Heryadi, said on Tuesday.

Besides Soetta, AP II also upgrades eight other airports to increase the capacity. The airports, among others, are Sultan Syarif Kasim II in Pekanbaru, Depati Amir in Pangkal Pinang, and Sultan Thaha in Jambi.
