REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TABANAN - After Subak (Balinese traditional irrigation system, Ed-) officially listed in UNESCO world heritage, the Bali Provincial Government proposes other four sites in the region. The nominations are Pura Ulun Danau Batur and Batur Lake in Kintamani; Kerajaan Air in Pura Taman Ayun Complex in Badung; Subak landscape in the watershed of Pakerisan River in Buleleng; and Subak traditional irrigation system, in Caturangga Batukaru in Tabanan.

According to a lecturer in Universitas Udayana, Bali, Wiwik Dharmiasih, the nominated regions had Tri Hita Karana concept, which meant three happiness in life. "The real concept of Tri Hita Karana in Bali is Subak," Dharmiasih said on Monday.

Bali has proposed the four sites since 1998, but they have not met the UNESCO's criteria. After some adjustment, the nominations are once again proposed in 2010. But, UNESCO objects to some regions because the area is too commercial.
