REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia and India are seeking more cooperations in oil and gas sector, as the First Meeting of the Joint Working Group on Oil and Gas between India and Indonesia was held in Bali on 4-5 June 2012, according to media release from Indian embassy on Wednesday. The Indian delegation was led by GC Chaturvedi, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, and the Indonesian delegation was led by Evita H Legowo, Director General of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
The two sides discussed possibilities of cooperation in the oil and gas sector, including in joint research and development as well as training and education. India would be willing to work together with Indonesia in development of its various projects, including in LNG and city gas distribution. It also offered to share its experiences and techniques for enhanced oil recovery and improved oil recovery. The two sides also discussed possibilities of cooperation in CBM planning and development. Both countries’ delegations agreed to exchange experiences and expertise and in human resource development, training & education, skill and competency development in the oil and gas sector.
The meeting was held in pursuance of a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Oil and Gas which was signed by the two countries during the State Visit of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to India in January 2011.
